Meiji Jingu

5/16/16

Dina Adding the Prayer Card
Donated Sake
Yasue had an Ikebana class today so Yoshio showed up alone at the hotel. There was a rare accident on the train line so he was delayed a little.  We grabbed a taxi and headed for Shibuya and the Meiji Shrine. Meiji brings back a lot of memories since Tristan and Shizuka were married there 13 years ago. Another couple were getting married during our visit today.  We walked around, took some pictures, and filled out a wooden prayer card to be read aloud by the Shinto priest and then burned.

Yoshio and Loren on
Harajuku Street

Harajuku Street is where young people go to buy novelty fashions and to be seen in a happening place, and Loren, Yoshio, and I dared to observe these inhabitants in person. Young women with 3 different colors of hair and fashion attire that goes from the little girl polka dot skirt with high heeled sneakers, to the ripped black nylon design with black semi-opaque top and mini jeans skirt with heels so high you can dunk a basketball without your feet leaving the ground. Oh to be young again. I especially loved the balloon-baggy pants with he high heel roller skates.

Earthquaker

One more thing: we had a 5.6 earthquake last night! Quite a thrill on the 30th floor with the hotel moving back and forth.
